Top Quality Made in Japan Tenugui

A thin cotton hand towel that martial arts practitioners tie around their heads before wearing their protective helmets (or men) during a match. Tied in a specific manner, the Tenugi provides extra padding around our students’ heads while absorbing sweat during Karate training and Bogu Kumite (sparring match using protective armor), making wearing a protective helmet (or men) more comfortable.

Double-sided print on top quality 100% made in Japan cotton cloth. The print reads “Ko-Ken-Chi-Ai,” which means, “You learn love by crossing the swords together.” This phrase is common in Kendo, but it exemplifies how ancient Ryukyuan warriors believed in developing a protective spirit by providing goodwill toward people, family, and society. Believing human lives are beautiful and valued and meant to be treated with respect is the true way of karate.
